Category administration
To administer Shop content, you need to:
Create and maintain a logical structure of offer categories
Create and maintain offers representing individual products and services offered to the end users.
This section deals with the category part of Shop data management, namely, category administration tools and category-related administration use cases.
Rules and recommendations
If you are building your Shop content from scratch, start by designing a logical category structure. User-friendly, streamlined user experience can be achieved by adhering to the following rules and recommendations:
Categories
Rule: Category tree is limited to 3 category levels.
The Top-2nd-3rd level category structure is largely reflected in the Shop user interface. See End user perspective - Offer categories for more information.
Recommendations:
Limit the number of top level categories. This helps to keep the main navigation menu bar for the end user neat and tidy.
Consider marking the most important categories as Recommended categories.
Offers versus categories
Rule: Offers can only be assigned to 3rd level categories.
Rule: Each offer must belong to a category.
Option: One offer can belong to more than one category.
