Keyboard navigation flow - example
Here is an example of requesting a headset using just the keyboard. For this, you need to:
navigate to top category / 2nd level category / 3rd level category
select and configure the offer
submit the request
Starting point: a freshly opened Shop (just opened or after clicking the USU logo in the toolbar)
Press until you move focus to the top category. (The page opens with focus on the , one press moves focus to the help icon, second press moves focus to , subsequent presses move focus within top categories.)
Press to expand the navigation menu to display IT Workplace Service 2nd and 3rd level categories.
With the menu expanded, press to move focus to the Hardware item.
With focus on the Hardware item
press until focus lands on 3rd level category ; or
use to move focus directly to
With focus on , press to open the 3rd level category page.
In the page, press until focus lands on the name of the offer of your choice. Then press to open the offer in the Offer detail page.
In the Offer detail page, press to move focus to individual offer parameters. Type the input in input parameters and select available values in selection parameters.
Use to display dropdown menus, use the up/down to move focus to menu items, press to confirm menu item selection.
If option groups are part of the configuration, use the to move focus between check boxes and radio buttons within individual option groups.
If date fields are involved:
Type the date in the required format; or
Press to move focus to the calendar icon at the right of the field, press to open the calendar control, use the to select a date and press to confirm the selection.
If check boxes are involved, use to toggle check box states.
When the configuration is finished, use to move focus the the section. Specify (if available) and press to move focus to either of the requesting buttons: or .
With focus on the action of your choice, press .
If your choice was , congratulations - you have just requested a headset using only the keyboard.
If you chose , continue shopping or proceed to the cart to finalize the request.
Note
Alternatively, you could use keyboard navigation in combination with the search functionality.
It may also be a good idea to start by a brief glance at the homepage Recommended sections. Navigation to an offer of your choice will be much faster if the relevant category or even the offer itself have been marked as recommended.
