Work with multiple currencies
The USU Shop supports using multiple currencies. If other currencies (additional to the default currency of Euro) have been enabled by the shop administrator, then:
The user can select one of the supported currencies to work with.
Shop offer prices are always specified in Euros and can also be specified in one or more of the supported currencies.
Please note that offers which do not have their price specified in the currency you are currently using will not be available to you. See Currency-related availability restrictions below for more information.
Selecting a currency to work with
Expand the User profile menu in the Toolbar and select .
The USU User Management application opens in a new browser tab, and you are redirected to this tab.
In USU User Management, go to the Preferences page and select from the available currencies.
Switch back to the Shop browser tab and reload the page. (E.g. using the F5 key standard for most browsers)
After reloading the page, the changed setting will apply. You can close the USU User Management browser tab.
The consequences of switching to another currency
If you switch to another currency, the following happens:
Only offers with price specified in your currently selected currency are available to you.
As a consequence, individual categories may list fewer offers. As all offers must have their price specified at least in the default currency (Euro), switching back to Euro will help you identify possible offers not yet available in the currency you need. Your shop administrator may then be able to rectify the situation.
All price values in the shop are displayed in the selected currency.
The only exception to this are prices in the My requests page. Prices of past requests are displayed in the currency in which the request was made.
The current content of your cart may be affected - see below.
Currency-related availability restrictions
The number of offers in the shop may drop due to some offers not being available in the presently used currency.
If there is some content in your cart and you switch to another currency, you may encounter the Item(s) in your cart no longer available message due to some offers in the cart not being available in the newly selected currency and thus becoming unorderable. To submit the request, you will need to remove the unorderable items from the cart.
If another shop user sends you a direct link to an offer which does not have its price specified in the currency you are presently using, you will not be able to access the offer. (Using the link will give you an Offer is no longer available message.) To make sure you can see the offer, switch to the default currency before using the link.
